How did you first stand up for yourself?
Most of us learn the word “no” very early in life. Perhaps hitting puberty prepares us for caretaking, especially motherhood. Suddenly, other people’s needs start eclipsing our own and we find ourselves succumbing to others’ wants or desires.
This is often true for women who experience violence of any form, including abortion.
In our next issue of The American Feminist, one of the issues we will explore are those growth moments while also building hope and resilience.
Maybe you have a story of a time, often at some critical juncture in life, or simply the onset of wisdom, where you took your power, your voice, back.
Sharing your story could help teens who need to stand up for themselves, as well as others.

Please send your short story or memory to info@feministsforlife.org. Your reply might be chosen for publication. Let us know if you wish to be quoted, or not. (Feel free to use a nom de plume! Just let us know you prefer to use a pseudonym when you submit your comment.)
Meanwhile, please make sure your support is current so you will receive the next great issue of The American Feminist®.
