Exploitation Can Happen Anywhere: What You Can Do
During this Human Trafficking Awareness Month, it is important to note that every day in America, someone is being trafficked. While predators don’t discriminate on who can be a victim, there are risk factors that make some more susceptible including those in foster care, those who are homeless, and those with prior abuse history.
We share our resources from our Women Deserve Better helpsite so you can learn more and pass it along to educators, doctor’s offices, places of worship, schools, counselors and on your social media networks:
How to Get Help If You Are Being Trafficked
But every day, our teens are also being bombarded with messages that make them question their self-worth—making them even more vulnerable to predators.
The FBI has seen a huge increase in the number of cases involving children and teens being threatened and coerced into sending explicit images online—a crime called sextortion.
O.U.R. Rescue created this short film to illustrate how sextortion works on teens.
And we created GirlsDeserveBetter.org and on Instagram to help educate and empower teens about these issues and remind them they are Forever PricelessTM.
Join us in helping women and teens and share these resources!
Because women—and girls— deserve better,
