Our Mission is Our Vision
People ask how we will respond to a new Congress and White House administration. The answer is easy. Our vision is our mission. Every Congress, every president gives us a new opportunity to advance the unmet needs of pregnant and parenting women.
Feminists for Life remains committed to systematically addressing the reasons that drive women to abortion, primarily a lack of resources and support. Women deserve better. Babies deserve life and love.
Pregnant women need to know that they have protection, support, and solutions in the community. Some support is federal, especially if she is poor.
But as the election approached, bipartisan support for pro-woman legislation subsided, then collapsed. Our hope for women-centered solutions were on hold. But no more.
We have new opportunities to push forward legislation for child support during pregnancy and support for her once the baby is born, support on campus and in the workplace.
In fact, with Roe behind us, many organizations have joined us moving in this direction!
And while the unintended consequences of Dobbs was to energize abortion advocates, especially on campus, we remain committed to expanding accommodations, policies, and communicating support.
I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. By now you should have received our new magazine, “What About MEN?” and my President’s Report. (Please contact me asap if you haven’t!)
But in case you missed the latest, the highlights of our efforts this year are available for you to read here. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your support this past year.
After preparing the Annual President’s Report, we successfully advocated accommodation for pregnant law school student Brittany and Baby Lovely at Georgetown Law. In addition, the Pregnancy Help News covered our new Girls Deserve Better website.
Now we have set our sight on 2025. Don’t forget, tomorrow is #givingtuesday! But our year-end match is already on!
Because women deserve better,
Serrin M. Foster
President
